Disappointing show and venue
"The lines to get into the venue weren’t too bad all things considered. We were really looking forward to our first event out since COVID. The venue did a good job of letting us know what we needed to show to enter, but they didn’t state upfront that we wouldn’t be able to bring in a purse over 8 inches wide and 1 inch thick. Many people had to run back to their cars to drop them off, and they weren’t nice about it.
The opening acts for the show were pretty funny, though the whole thing kicked off a little late. This was our first time in the upper sections, and I was shocked at how steep the seating is. More importantly, the aisles in the upper section have ZERO room. My husband, who is 6’6”, had his knees jammed against the bar in front of us, making it hugely uncomfortable.
Kurt Vile and The Violators was honestly disappointing. He kicked off with a long bit about how tired he is of wearing a mask when literally all of us are in there wearing masks. He had a few funny parts, but there were so many moments when he was just on stage complaining about his kids' school, even though he was talking about a private $40,000/yr education and complaining about Netflix and how he had to pay for his first special, but then hyped up the other three specials he has. Then he just preached about how you have to work hard to make all that money. The weirdest part was when he spent the last 20 minutes singing and brought out someone from Boyz 2 Men. If we weren’t just literally stuck in our seats, I swear I would have left.
After that, the process was smooth. I’m glad I didn’t pay the very overpriced cost of better seating because I would have been PISSED. But overall, it was just disappointing. Definitely not the show I was hoping for in our first date night back out in a few years."
